AK Singh said everyone should plant saplings and ensure their maintenance. He said the true success of the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ campaign depends on both planting and protecting the saplings.

Dr Amit Kumar Agrawal said the campaign was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on June 5, World Environment Day. He said, “The Prime Minister’s message underscores that just as we honour our mothers who gave us life, we should also honour mother earth by planting trees in her name and thereby contributing to environmental conservation.”

He stated that the Haryana Government was committed to making the state greener and reducing pollution. He said that a state-wide plantation drive would be carried out on August 16 with the aim of planting at least 2.5 lakh saplings in each district, with a total target of 51 lakh saplings across the state. He said the state-level event would be held in Kaithal, where the Chief Minister, Nayab Singh Saini, would be present as the chief guest. — TNS
