Chandigarh, January 25

The Theatre Lab presented a mono act play ‘ Daya Shanker ki Diary’ at Mini Tagore Theatre auditorium here today. Written by Nadira Zaheer Babbar and directed by Umesh Kant , an alumnus of PU Indian theatre the solo act play depicted diverse phases of the life of modest Daya Shankar, the protagonist, coming from a poor family background, who had shifted from a sleepy village in UP to Mumbai to accomplish a dream of becoming a Bollywood hero.

The character of Daya Shankar enacted by young Gorkey Singh brought to life the joy and excitement of Daya Shankar during the period of his shifting to Mumbai, getting a job there and falling in the world of fantasy of becoming a hero, which was created by his dreams.

Ultimately he lands into depression. The play represented different phases of the psychological state of mind of depressed Daya Shanker nicely brought to life by actor Gorkey Singh through good acting spells and voice modulation.
