Police call for public cooperation to help tackle drug menace
Nothing is impossible if the people come forward and wholeheartedly cooperate with the police in their mission to root out social evils, particularly the drug menace, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) HS Bhullar said while addressing the public at Sirhind today under the Sampark-2 Campaign.
Launched by the district police to create awareness and seek public cooperation to tackle drugs, the campaign saw the DIG reiterate the Chief Minister and Punjab Police Director General of Police’s (DGP) message to root out the menace from the state for good.
Bhullar said if the Punjab Police can wipe out terrorism from the state with the public’s cooperation, the eradication of drug menace should be even more doable.
The DIG futher said the state government has launched an anti-drug helpline: 9779100200 as well as a WhatsApp chatbot to fulfill the objective of a drug-free Punjab.
“If the police and public work in tandem, the evil of drugs will see its end from the sacred land of Punjab,” he further added.
He noted that parents, teachers and the media could play an important role in tackling the menace.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Ravjot Grewal, meanwhile, said a fight against drugs has been launched in the district before calling upon the people, NGOs, Social organisations, youth clubs to come forward so that this menace can be wiped out and younger generation may be saved.
