Police hold tenant verification drive in Burail, 5 property owners booked

In a concerted effort to enhance public safety and nail anti-social elements, the UT police launched a special tenant verification drive at Burail village in Sector 45 here on Saturday. Five property owners were booked for not getting their tenants’ police verification done.

The initiative was carried out by a team of the Burail police post under the directions of SSP Kanwardeep Kaur and guidance of SP (City) Geetanjali Khandewal. The operation was supervised by DSP (South) Jaswinder Singh and SHO of Sector 34 police station Satinder Kumar.

During the drive, police found several unauthorised tenants living in cramped, poorly maintained accommodations without valid identity proof or prior police verification.

A case under Section 223 of the BNS was registered against five property owners for non-compliance of the District Magistrate’s orders mandating verification of tenants.
