Poll parties to be despatched tomorrow for voting in 52 panchayat samiti zones in Mohali district

All election-related material has been prepared, checked and packed for distribution. Transportation arrangements for dispatch of polling parties to polling stations and return to the collection centres/strong rooms at both centres have been fully put in place.
As many as 2,12,848 voters will exercise their right to franchise on December 14 from 8 am to 4 pm. All arrangements at the polling booths have been completed well in advance. Every polling station has been equipped with CCTV cameras to ensure transparency during voting. Of 306 polling booths, 57 have been identified as sensitive. Extra vigil and adequate deployment of the police personnel will be ensured at these locations. Senior police officers in the rank of SPs and DSPs have been designated as nodal officers for their respective areas.
Election observer for the panchayat samiti elections in Mohali district Amrit Singh, Director, Employment Generation, Training and Skill Development, today reviewed the comprehensive election preparedness along with officials of the district administration. She emphasised on ensuring free, fair and transparent elections across the 52 zones of Kharar, Majri and Dera Bassi panchayat samities on December 14.
In a separate meeting with micro observers deputed for counting, Amrit Singh instructed them to remain vigilant during the counting process scheduled for December 17. Counting for votes polled in Kharar and Majri will be held at Government Polytechnic College, Khooni Majra, while counting for Dera Bassi will take place at Government College, Dera Bassi.
Amrit Singh informed that training and randomisation for allocation of panchayat samities would be conducted a day prior to counting. Each counting centre would have 14 counting tables, she said.
