Rainwater entered houses and shops at Om Enclave, Nijjher Road, Kharar, this evening. Society residents alleged that some villagers broke a portion of a wall to release rainwater accumulated in the village pond.

A firetender reached the spot to pump out the water from the colony.

Colony resident Sahil Thakur, Sukhdev Singh, Juginder Lal and Davinder said rainwater entered houses and shops and damaged the household items besides creating unhygienic conditions.

Flooding under the flyover on the Chandigarh-Ambala national highway continued to hamper traffic in the town. Besides, life in the Baltana, Lohgarh, Bhabat and Dhakoli areas was badly hit due to waterlogging.

It rained for an hour in the town, from 4 pm to 5 pm, which led to accumulation of rainwater at the Patiala Chowk under the flyover. Similarly, the road in front of Metro Store was also submerged.
