Preparations in full swing for PM Modi’s visit on Dec 3

Preparations are in full swing at the Punjab Engineering College (PEC), Sector 12, here ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit on December 3. The institute’s campus is undergoing a comprehensive makeover, with workers engaged in sprucing up the premises, landscaping and ensuring that the venue is spotless. A massive pandal is being erected to accommodate the expected crowd, with meticulous arrangements for security, seating and logistics.

The Chandigarh Police is coordinating with the central security agencies to ensure foolproof security for the high-profile visit. Traffic advisories are expected to be issued closer to the event to manage the movement of vehicles in the area.

During the visit, the PM will review the progress of three newly introduced criminal laws aimed at overhauling India’s criminal justice system. Sources said that the newly recruited IPS officers from across the country had also been invited to attend the event, where the Chandigarh Police will give a detailed presentation on integration and functioning of various applications under the new criminal laws.

During the presentation, the police will give a live demonstration on how law enforcement, judicial procedures and evidence management had been streamlined and will also showcase the working of e-Sakshya, Nyay Setu, Nyay Shruti and e-summons applications, which had been developed by the National Informatics Centre in partnership with the National Crime Records Bureau.
