Administrator Gulab Chand Kataria today approved the Policy of Person with Benchmark Disability (PwBD) of the Engineering Department and subsequently gave the nod to the adjustment of 22 PwBD employees of the Electricity Department in various wings of the Engineering Department.

As per the policy, a total of 22 PwBD employees working in the power wing, having disability of more than 40% to 100% and holding permanent posts in Group ‘A’, ‘B’, ‘C’ & ‘D’, would be adjusted to other wings of the Engineering Department on an identical posts, subject to the fulfilment of the terms and conditions of the policy provisions.

All 22 employees have appreciated the efforts of the Chandigarh Administration and specifically thanked the Administrator for safeguarding their working conditions and promptly redressing their genuine issue. The Punjab and Haryana High Court dismissed the UT Powermen Union’s civil writ petition against privatisation of the Electricity Department on November 6. On December 2, an SLP filed by the UT Powermen Union was dismissed by the Supreme Court.
