Chandigarh: Prof RK Singla took the charge of Dean of University Instructions, Panjab University, Chandigarh, today from Prof. Shankarji Jha whose two year tenure ended today. Prof. Singla earlier served as the Dean (Research) and was the Director of Computer Centre. He has been appointed for a period of one year or the date of his superannuation, whichever is earlier.Webinar on Hindi and Indian culture in ChinaChandigarh: More than 50 participants including students, research scholars, faculty took part in a webinar ‘Hindi and Indian Culture in China’ at the Department of Hindi, Panjab University. Prof. Naveen Lohani, former ICCR Hindi Chair professor at Shanghai InternationalStudies University, spoke about the popularity of Hindi in China and shared hisexperiences of spending two years in Shanghai. He spoke about the need and relevance of Hindi in the fields of information and technology, media, translation. Department Chairperson Prof. Gurmeet Singh said the department was trying to give a global exposure to its students by roping in speakers from various locations. The lecture was organised as a part of the Friday lecture series organised by ‘Kahi Ankahi’ the literary forum of the department.
