A letter addressed to the President of India was also submitted, demanding immediate revocation of the Act. The protestors accused the Centre of attempting to take away the community’s rights through legislative changes.

The Waqf (Amendment) Bill was passed by the Lok Sabha on Thursday and by the Rajya Sabha on Friday after debates in both houses of Parliament. President Droupadi Murmu later gave her assent to the bill.
