She also lashed out at the opposition councillors, alleging that they were stalling the development works in the city.
Addressing a press conference along with the other elected BJP councillors and nominated councillors at the Municipal Corporation office in Sector 17 here today, Babla said the attitude of the opposition was anti-people and anti-development. She said there was nothing wrong in the auction and it would be conducted through a global tender.
“The agenda for the auction of the land was brought before the House six times earlier, but no objection was raised then. Every procedure will be followed in the proposed auction as per the law. The land will be sold to the single bidder as decided by the MC House,” she said. Councillors Saurabh Joshi, Manoj Sonkar, Mahesh Inder Singh Sidhu and Sarabjit Kaur were also present on the occasion.
The Mayor said she would not allow the opposition to sacrifice the development works of the city for their own self-interest. The entire money received from the auction would be used for the development of Chandigarh.
