PU football team win gold
The men’s football team of Panjab University has won the gold medal in the North Zone Inter-University Football Championship held at the GNA University, Phagwara. In the final league match, the Panjab University team logged a 2-1 win over Guru Dev Nanak Dev University, Amritsar. Renu Vig, Vice-Chancellor, congratulated the winners.
Earlier, in the quarterfinal match, the university team registered a 4-0 win over Himachal Pradesh University, Shimla, and a 3-1 win over Punjabi University, Patiala. The host team defeated Panjab University 0-1, however, the team bounced back by defeating Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar, 2-1 in another league match.
