PU students end hunger strike
A joint action committee formed by the Panjab University students demanding justice for Aditya Thakur, who was stabbed to death, ended their hunger strike after the authorities formed a committee to look into their demands and temporarily removed Dean Student Welfare (DSW) and chief of security.
The committee under the chairmanship of Nandita Singh, Department of Education, will take all decisions in consultation with the members of the committee till the internal inquiry report is approved by the VC. Financial matters related to the DSW office will be looked after by the Registrar, Panjab University, during the inquiry period. Meanwhile, Yogesh Rawal will take over the charge of chief of security.
The UT Administration had ordered a magisterial inquiry into the stabbing incident at the PU on March 28, which claimed the life of Aditya, a student of the UIET.
