Chandigarh, September 2

Ludhiana’s Pukhraj Singh Gill and Gurugram’s Manu Gandas scored an identical 7-under 64 to share the first round lead at the Golconda Masters Telangana Open 2021 as the PGTI resumed its 2020-2021 season, at Hyderabad today.

While 24-year-old Gill shot the best round of his professional career, 25-year-old Gandas continued his hot streak having posted five top-10 finishes this season.

Chandigarh’s Karandeep Kochhar and Chikkarangappa of Bengaluru carded a 67 each to share the sixth spot at the end of the first round.

Another city golfer, Harendra Gupta was joint 13th at 68.

Meanwhile, Gill and Gandas were one shot ahead of Mysuru’s Yashas Chandra (65).

Interestingly, Gill’s younger brother Digraj Singh, who had an eagle-two on the 14th, was tied for fourth with Noida’s Amardeep Malik at 5-under 66.

Olympian and defending champion Udayan Mane had forgetful fay as he carded a 74 to finish the opening round at tied 83.
