The national pulse polio campaign is set to kick off on March 3 in the district. The ‘National Immunisation Day (NID)’ campaign is scheduled from March 3 to March 5, during which oral polio vaccine (OPV) would be administered to children below 5 years. A total of 1,56,830 children would be given the polio shots, and the health teams would visit 4,37,717 houses. On the first day of the campaign, anti-polio drops would be administered to children at the booths in the district. On the remaining two days, health workers would go door-to-door to administer the vaccine. Health officials said children everywhere, be it at homes, high-risk areas, construction sites, or slums would be covered, adding that 1,270 teams have been deputed to ensure the success of the drive. They said on the first day, 635 booths would be set up in the district.
