The Bar Council of Punjab and Haryana has decided to observe a no-work day across all courts in Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh on May 9.

The Bar Council has taken the decision in view of escalating tensions between India and Pakistan and considering the safety concerns of litigants/advocates/staff/general public and their families, etc., Rakesh Gupta, Chairman, Bar Council of Punjab and Haryana, said.

Meanwhile, Ashok Chauhan, president, District Bar Association, Chandigarh, said the association had decided to observe no-work day in the district courts on Friday. The decision has been taken in view of the prevailing situation, he said.
