The rift between the two sides reportedly started during the match and things turned ugly after a player from the losing Punjab side allegedly hit a Maharashtra counterpart.

“The rift started during the match,” said one of the organisers. “After the match was over, one of the Punjab players reportedly hit an opponent player. The other players, sitting in the spectators’ gallery, also approached the rink and things turned ugly”

“The officials, however, were quick to intervene and the situation was diffused,” the official said. “After primarily investigation, the Punjab team was barred from the championship.” — TNS
