The Teachers’ Voice United Front (TVUF) unveiled its vision statement ahead of the Panjab University Teachers’ Association (PUTA) elections scheduled for September 3. The group promised improvement in the academic ecosystem of the university and ease of teaching for the faculty members.

The TVUF panel for the PUTA poll included Ashok Kumar (Hindi) for the post of president, Suruchi Aditya (dental college) vice-president, Kulwinder Singh (UBS) secretary, Vinod Kumar (sociology) joint secretary and Pankaj Srivastva (philosophy) treasurer. Those contesting from the front for the posts of executive member are Sudhir Mehra (English and cultural studies), Rakesh Mohindra (library UBS) in Group I, Minto Rattan (UIET), Ikreet Singh (dental college) Jaget Singh (UIET) in Group III and Harmail Singh (USOL/CDOE) in Group V.

Ashok Kumar said, “If elected, we will fight for the release of arrears, including interest, resolving the issue of teachers’ retirement age, setting it at 65 years, stopping academic audit by resident audit officer, restoring general body meeting mechanism as per the PUTA constitution and hassle-free disbursement of retirement benefits.”
