Chandigarh, October 28

The incumbent House of Panjab University Teachers’ Association (PUTA) has been re-elected for a one-year term by the Panjab University faculty.

The team of Mritunjay Kumar and Amarjit Singh Naura won the elections concluded today.

As many as 567 votes were polled for the post president, out of which 34 were termed invalid. While Manu Sharma got 241 votes, Kumar secured 292 votes to emerge as winner.

Naura (285 votes) beat Kashmir Singh (268 votes) to win the contest for the post of secretary.

Supinder won the election for the vice-president, while Sarvnarinder Kaur secured the joint secretary’s post. Nitin Arora was elected as treasurer.

Suman (304 votes), Gautam Bahl (282 votes) and Neeraj Kumar (282 votes) were the top-three finishers in Group-I. Jasbir Singh (260 votes) finished fourth.

In Group-II, Navneet Kaur, Vijayata Chadha, Santosh Upadhya, Balram, Mamta and Sumar were elected.
