Security has been stepped up around Shaheed Major (Shaurya Chakra) Harminder Pal Singh Government College Stadium here, the venue of district-level Republic Day function. Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains will unfurl the Tricolour at the stadium tomorrow.

Six SPs and 14 DSPs have been assigned duties. As many as 28 nakas will be set up at crucial points apart from patrolling by the police.

SSP Dr Sandeep Garg said R-Day functions would also be celebrated at 25 other places in the district. As many as 22 SHOs and 1,045 cops from all police stations would ensure there was no untoward incident.
