In one of the rarest cases, Dr Sarabjeet of the GMSH, Sector 16, successfully operated a 12-year-old female patient having Rupunzel syndrome.

“It’s an extremely rare condition and the patient has been treated free of cost. This was my second case of Rupunzel syndrome and third of trichobezoar,” said Dr Sarabjeet.

As per a recent report, only 68 cases of Rupunzel syndrome (a form of trichobezoar) have been reported worldwide.

The Rapunzel syndrome is an unusual form of trichobezoar found in patients with a history of psychiatric disorders, trichotillomania (habit of hair pulling) and trichophagia (morbid habit of chewing the hair). The symptoms are vomiting and epigastric pain.
