Failure to get the eKYC or biometric done, the UT Administration will suspend food subsidy of registered ration card holders until completion of the eKYC.

The Department of Food and Supplies and Consumer Affairs and Legal Metrology has started conducting eKYC of all registered beneficiaries through ePoS device by biometric authentication as per the guidelines of The Aadhar (Targeted Delivery of Financial and Other Subsidies and Services) Act, 2016.

According to officials, the exercise is going on in different areas of Chandigarh at common places like community centres.

The process of biometric authentication of all registered beneficiaries and their family members is mandatory and is to be completed in one month.
