As many as 14 candidates filed their papers for the new 11-member executive committee. Since the withdrawal of nominations is open till January 11, it’s uncertain whether the elections for the new committee will be held or not. Sources claimed the elections were unlikely as the contenders had been approached to withdraw nominations under mutual consent.
