The Chandigarh Police have arrested a 32-year-old man from Manimajra on charges of drug trafficking and recovered over 245-gm heroin, besides Rs 2,22,500 drug money.

The accused, identified as Sushil Kumar alias Sulli, a resident of New Indira Colony in Manimajra and an Uber motorcycle rider by profession. Sushil, a repeat offender, was apprehended during routine patrolling by a police team led by SI Parmod Kumar on Tuesday evening near the ‘kacchi’ parking area close to Gurukul Global School.

Upon being searched, Kumar was found carrying 7.32-gm heroin. Subsequent interrogation led to the recovery of Rs 2.22 lakh in suspected drug proceeds from his residence and 238-gm heroin concealed in his motorcycle.

The police produced the accused in a court, which granted a two-day remand. As per police records, Kumar is a repeat offender with cases under the NDPS Act registered against him in Himachal Pradesh.
