In view of the ongoing chilly weather conditions, the UT Education Department has decided to continue with the rescheduled timings. As per the latest circular for all local government and private schools, the department has ordered that the single shift schools will open from 9.30 am to 2.30 pm, while the staff will be called from 8.45 am to 2.45 pm.

In the double shift schools, the classes will be conducted from 9.30 am to 1 pm (Class VI onwards) and 12.30 pm to 3.30 pm (Classes I to V). The schools have been asked to follow the timings from January 20 to 25. The pre-primary classes will have scheduled timing from 9.30 am (for three hours only). It has also been mandated that once the schools revert to normal timings, the children must be encouraged to cover up syllabus.

“The private schools of Chandigarh will not to open before 9.30 am and close not later than 3.30 pm. The schools may regulate timings for the staff accordingly. To avoid disputing the pre-board examinations (if any), schools may for these classes, if required, open at 9 am and the timings of the teachers may be regulated accordingly,” read the order.
