Residents of Swaraj Enclave, Sector 127, Kharar, complained that access to their houses have been blocked by choked drains for past one week.

They said streets no. 1, 2 and 3 are covered in knee-deep water as drains remain choked. “We are living in hell-like conditions with sewage water mixed with rainwater on roads. Pedestrians and two-wheeler riders are falling here daily. Despite complains to the councillors, MC officials there is no action,” they rued.

The drains and road gullies were chocked with slush and garbage during rains in September-end. Since then, the locality has turned hell, they claimed. Being a low-lying area with inadequate drainage, the water has been stagnating here.

“Dengue, malaria threat is looming large here. Urgent action is needed,” they further implored.

Municipal Council officials said de-silting was being done. Some of the areas are remaining they will be cleared soon.
