Mohali: High drama prevailed in Jujhar Nagar when GMADA officials tried to start a demolition drive for 58 houses at Amit Enclave, where residents have been living for the past four years. Residents closed the gates of the area to prevent the entry of the officials and the police. Mohali SDM Jagdeep Sehgal and DSP Rupinderdeep Kaur Sohi also visited the spot and gave 15 days’ time to the residents. GMADA SDO (Regulatory) Harpreet Singh said, ‘’Due process has been followed. The demolition drive will continue in the coming days.’’ On Tuesday, GMADA officials had carried out a demolition drive for 60 houses in Guru Nanak Enclave of Jhampur. Residents alleged that their houses were being demolished while nearby colonies in the same khasra number were regularised. TNS
