Written by Bharat Ratna Bhargva, designed and directed by Teekam Joshi, an alumnus of the NSD, and Dr Navdeep Kaur, chairperson, Department of Indian Theatre, the play blossomed to excellence with symbolic sets, soothing music by Dr Tejie Gill and chiaroscuro effects by Souti Chakraborty.

The play attempted to maintain that Amrita Pritam defied all such social norms that devalue the freedom of a human being. Submerged in emotions, Navdeep recited Amrita’s immortal poem, ‘Ajj akhan Waris Shah nu’. The play also highlighted the devoted love of Imroze for Amrita. Teekam Joshi portrayed Sahir Ludhianavi and Imroze while Dr Navdeep Kaur portrayed Amrita Pritam.

Kamal Arora, CSNA Chairman, and Atul Sharma honoured the artistes while Balkar Sidhu hosted the programme with literary acumen.
