Mahavir Singh, a 1989-batch Haryana cadre IAS officer, retired on February 28, 2023, upon attaining the age of superannuation. He has an experience of more than three decades in public affairs, administration and management of infrastructure while serving in different capacities as IAS officer in Haryana government and at the Centre. He was on inter-state deputation to Chandigarh Administration in 1999 and posted as Chief Executive Officer, Chandigarh Housing Board. His last posting was as Additional Chief Secretary for School Education, Sports, and Youth Affairs, Government of Haryana.
Having MBA, PhD and D Litt degrees, Mahavir Singh has served for more than 12 years in the field of Urban Development and Housing in various capacities in Government of India and Haryana government. He has also served as Deputy Commissioner, Kaithal and Divisional Commissioner, Ambala.
Present during the occasion were Rajeev Verma, Chief Secretary, UT Chandigarh; Vivek Joshi, Chief Secretary of Haryana, along with serving and retired officials of Government of Haryana and UT Chandigarh Administration.
