According to DCP Srishti Gupta, information was received around 9.30 am on Thursday that a boy had allegedly been kidnapped. Inspector Sombir Dhaka and his team immediately launched a probe. It came to light that the boy had not been abducted, but had run away from home after being scolded by his mother.

The child had boarded an auto-rickshaw to the Chandigarh railway station and then a train to Lalru, a route he knew well due to frequent family trips to Bihar. A fellow passenger informed the boy’s family, after which the police coordinated with the GRP and recovered the child.
