SAD’s Jaspreet is Kharar MC chief
Mohali, June 17
In a major setback to the Congress, Shiromani Akali Dal’s (SAD) Jaspreet Kaur Longia, Councillor from Ward No. 19, was elected as the president of the Kharar Municipal Council on Thursday.
Gurdeep Kaur and Jasbir Singh Rana have been elected as the senior vice-president and the vice-president, respectively. Longia had contested on the SAD ticket, while Gurdeep and Jasbir had contested as Independents. Out of the total 27 seats, the Congress had won 10, SAD eight, while one seat went to the AAP and the remaining eight seats were won by Independent candidates in the Kharar MC elections. — TNS
