Sardar Patel’s birth anniversary celebrated with ‘Run for Unity’

A large number of youths, students, sports enthusiasts and people from various walks of life took part in the event with great zeal.
Haryana Health Minister Aarti Singh Rao was the chief guest for the programme. She flagged off the Run for Unity from Parade Ground, Sector-5. She also joined the children in the run and encouraged the participants.
Rao paid floral tributes to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. On the occasion, she administered an oath to the gathering to work with dedication towards national unity, integrity and security. In her address, she said that the “Run for Unity” is not merely a race, but a symbol of unity, dedication and the resolve for nation-building.
The run started from Parade Ground and passed through Rajhans Cinema, Night Food Street, Bella Vista and the rear side of HAFED before culminating back at Parade Ground. Participants carried the Tricolour, spreading a message of patriotism and unity. Refreshments were distributed to all participants upon completion of the run.
Panchkula police personnel, meanwhile, pledged to dedicate themselves to safeguarding the unity, integrity and security of the nation, and to uphold the trust and expectations of the public.
Meanwhile, Mohali Police organised special visits for students and youngsters to police stations and the District Police Office, where they were briefed about police functioning, public services, the importance of staying away from drugs, and awareness against rising criminal activities.
