The police today claimed to have arrested a Sector 70 resident for allegedly assaulting ASI Jagraj Singh.
The suspect has been identified as Partik Singh Virk. The 28-year-old had attacked the ASI at a blockade near Mataur village on Thursday.
The police said Virk was signalled to halt but he broke the barricade and fell on the road. Later, he abused the police personnel and assaulted ASI Jagraj Singh.
The suspect was under the influence of drugs and disoriented at the time of the incident, said the police. Virk has been booked under Sections 353, 186, 188, 269 and 270 of the IPC at the Mataur police station. — TNS
