Members of the Sabzi Mandi Street Vendors' Association held a protest for not allowing them to sell vegetables and fruits in Sector 26 mandi. The association demanded permission to sell vegetables and fruits in the mandi.

In a memorandum to the Deputy Commissioner, the members said they had been supporting their families by selling fruits and vegetables the mandi for the past 40 years. “The Chandigarh Administration is not allowing us to earn our livelihood. Only those who have vendor licences are allowed to sell,” they said.

They said they had been without work for almost 4-5 months, due to which their financial condition had deteriorated and their children's future was in danger.

The association requested the DC to allow them to function in the mandi. The association promised that there would be no encroachment from their side and cleanliness would be taken care of. “The final exams of our children are to be held in March 2026. The atmosphere in our homes has deteriorated as we have no other source of income,” said vendors.
