Sector 32 college holds 47th convocation

Goswami Ganesh Dutta Sanatan Dharma (GGSD) College held its 47th convocation here today. Over 1,650 degrees were awarded to students of the 2022-23 batch during the convocation. Renu Vig Vice-Chancellor, Panjab University, presided over the ceremony.

GGDSD College Society general secretary Anirudh Joshi hosted the event on International Women’s Day, while noting Renu Vig’s position as the first woman Vice-Chancellor in Panjab University’s history.

In her address, Renu Vig spoke about developments in technology, digital infrastructure and education. She discussed the role of artificial intelligence, the need for ethical standards and the importance of balancing personal and professional life. She shared her approach to success through practice, performance and perseverance.

Principal Ajay Sharma presented the annual report, while stating that the college ranked 70th in the National Institutional Ranking Framework by the Ministry of Education and received an A accreditation. The college won the Shadi Lal Overall Memorial Trophy for Men for the fourth consecutive year and secured a gold medal at the Asian Boxing Championship. The college also secured places in cultural events at the Panjab University Youth and Heritage Festival and the National Youth Festival.

GGDSD College received a grant under the PM-USHA scheme of higher education and maintained a four-star rating of the Institution Innovation Council under the Ministry of Education. The college placement cell reported 500 campus recruitments.

A video made by students of the Young Communicators Club under faculty guidance highlighted Renu Vig’s academic and administrative contributions. The ceremony concluded with a vote of thanks by PK Bajaj, general secretary, GGDSD College Society, followed by singing of the National Anthem.
