In the wake of tension following a ghurchadhi (pre-wedding procession) dispute, Deputy Commissioner of Police Himadri Kaushik today visited Mauli village to assess the law and order situation. Acting on the directives of Police Commissioner Sibas Kaviraj, a dedicated control room has been established in the village to maintain heightened vigilance over local activities.

The number of CCTV cameras in the village has been increased from 12 to 17, while five police personnel equipped with cameras are now monitoring events in real-time.

DCP Kaushik reviewed the functioning of the control room and issued instructions to the deployed forces to remain alert and responsive at all times. Present during the inspection were Inspector Sukhbir Singh (SHO, Raipur Rani police station), Sub-Inspector Ramkaran (in-charge, Mauli police post) and Sub-Inspector Rajbir Singh.

Given the sensitivity of the situation, around 120 police officers, including female personnel, have been stationed across the village. All personnel have been provided with riot-control gear to ensure preparedness for any untoward incident. A special tear gas unit has also been kept on standby for rapid deployment in case of need. Five permanent checkpoints have been set up within the village, where police teams are maintaining 24-hour surveillance.

Addressing concerns over potential misinformation or communal incitement, DCP Kaushik warned that strict legal action would be taken against anyone posting casteist remarks, abusive words or provocative content online. The police are using specialised technological tools to monitor social media platforms round the clock, identifying individuals spreading unrest and initiating legal proceedings against them. DCP Kaushik urged residents not to pay heed to rumours or misleading information and to extend full cooperation to the authorities. She encouraged citizens to report any suspicious activity or objectionable content directly to the police. “Maintaining peace is a collective responsibility,” she stated, appealing for calm and community solidarity during the sensitive time.
