Senior Deputy Mayor Jasbir Singh Bunty, Deputy Mayor Taruna Mehta, and AAP councillor Prem Lata staged a protest in front of the Mayor’s office, holding posters demanding an end to the exploitation of Municipal Corporation (MC) employees. The protesting leaders alleged that employees are facing delayed salary payments and unjust job terminations.

They have  demanded transparency in Manimajra Housing Project. Bunty emphasised that their stance on the project was validated when the agenda for revising zoning regulations for Pocket Number 6 of NAC, Manimajra, was approved in a recent house meeting.

The leaders announced their intention to oppose the formation of a committee for the project, as announced by the Mayor.

Bunty also demanded a special house meeting to discuss the auction of land in Pocket Number 6, citing concerns about potential misuse of public funds and assets.

Bunty criticised the ruling party’s undemocratic attitude, alleging that opposition leaders’ voices were suppressed and they were forcibly removed from the house by marshals during the last two meetings.

During the protest, Devinder Singh Babla, former councillor and husband of Mayor Harpreet Kaur Babla, intervened and assured the leaders that the Manimajra project would be implemented transparently. He also promised that the auction proceeds would be utilised for city development.
