Shereen Makroo won the open category, while Harshita Sharma emerged as the best girl in the Under-14 category, on the concluding day of the 15th Chandigarh Chess Academy Open & Children’s Prize Money Chess Festival.

Ruhani Datta earned the title of best girl in the Under-10 category and Mayra Rahore was recognised as the best girl in the Under-7 category. Lavit Kansl won the boys’ Under-7 category event.

Swastik Singhal emerged as the champion in the Open category with 5.5 points, while Lakshit Pusri clinched the top spot in the Under-14 category with 5.5 points. Tavish Bansal secured victory in the Under-10 category with 5.5 points.

The tournament was organised by the Chandigarh Chess Academy and attracted participation of 225 players from various states in Northern India. Among them, as many as 49 were international rated players. UT SSP Kanwardeep Kaurawarded the winners.
