Chandigarh, January 20

Skipper Manan Vohra and Shivam Bhambri scored a century each as Chandigarh gained a 59-run first innings lead against hosts Goa on the second day of their Ranji Trophy match at the Goa Cricket Association Academy in Porvorim.

At the close of play Chandigarh were placed comfortably at 310/3, with Bhambri batting on 148 and Ankit Kaushik not out on 4.

The hosts were all out for 251 runs in their first innings yesterday.

Resuming the day at 3/0, Chandigarh lost Arslan Khan for the addition of just 27 runs to the total. The left-hander was caught by Lakshay Garg off medium-pacer Suyash Prabhudessai on 17.

Vohra then joined Bhambri and together they took the total to 231 runs before the skipper fell to left-arm spinner Darshan Misal on 102. Vohra faced 166 balls and hit 12 four and two sixes in his innings.

Bhambri though kept milking the Goa attack and together with Raman Bishnoi took the Chandigarh total past the 300-run mark. The 75-run partnership between the two finally came to an end when Bishnoi fell to the guile of left-arm spinner Amulya Pandrekar just before the draw of stumps. The 22-year-old right-handed batsman faced 83 balls for his 29.

Kaushik and Bhambri then negotiated the remaining two overs and took the total to 310. Misal, Prabhudessai and Pandrekar took a wicket each for the hosts.
