Shubman Gill donates medical equipment to Mohali civil hospital

Indian ODI team vice-captain Shubman Gill has donated medical equipment worth Rs 35 lakh to the Phase-6 Civil Hospital as a Corporate Social Responsibility initiative.

Among the donated equipment were a ventilator, bedside monitors, a multi-parameter monitor, minor OT tables, OT lights, and an X-Ray system.

Civil Surgeon Dr Sangeeta Jain said, “The equipment would be used after assessing the need. If any other hospital is in more need than it can be given there.”

The Health Department officials, meanwhile, said Gill’s aunt, Dr Kushaldeep Kaur, was present at the hospital when the equipment was donated on Thursday. Kaur is posted as District Immunisation Officer in Patiala.

Gill, who had his schooling in Mohali, has seen his career graph go up across the three formats of late. He is currently the vice-captain of the national ODI team.

His family had shifted from Fazilka to Mohali when Shubman was a budding cricketer in search of better facilities to train at. He honed his skills in Mohali and has since gone on to become a regular feature in the national team.

Recently, he was back in the city for the IPL encounter between Gujarat Titans and Punjab Kings at the PCA stadium in Mullanpur. —TNS
