An SUV sped away after hitting an ASI when the driver was signalled to stop for a traffic violation at the Furniture Market Chowk.

According to the police, the complainant, ASI Paramjit Singh, along with other police personnel, was on duty when they saw an SUV coming from the Sector 41/42 road. The complainant said volunteer Harpreet signalled the driver to stop because the woman on the passenger seat was not wearing the seat belt.

He alleged that instead of stopping, the driver sped away after hitting the ASI, who was standing on the Sector 54 road. He sustained injuries and was rushed to the Government Multi-Speciality Hospital, Sector 16.
