Singer Harrdy Sandhu briefly detained over permission
Punjabi singer and Bollywood actor Harrdy Sandhu was briefly detained by the Chandigarh Police just before his musical performance at a fashion show at the Exhibition Ground in Sector 34 here on Saturday.
Sandhu was escorted by police personnel from the stage over the issue of permission. He was, however, allowed to go after the organisers showed the required permission regarding the fashion show and musical performance. The issue left the singer and the organisers upset. Sources said Sandhu left the city without performing at the event. The organisers of the fashion show could not be contacted for comments.
The SHO at the Sector 34 police station said, “There was a confusion regarding the permission granted to the singer for live performance since we only had an intimation regarding the permission for the fashion show. The singer was just made to sit in the police vehicle for a few minutes.”
After live shows by singers Karan Aujla and Diljit Dosanjh at Sector 34 in December last, the UT Administration had decided that no big live concert or similar large gatherings would be allowed at the Sector 34 ground.
The administration had shifted the venue for Punjabi singer AP Dhillon’s show to the Rally Ground in Sector 25. The organisers had initially sought the permission for the Sector 34 ground.
