The police arrested six youths in two separate theft cases and recovered 13 stolen bikes, a scooter and an auto from their possession today.

The arrested accused have been identified as Cholta Kalan resident Kamalpreet Singh, 22, Badala, Kharar resident Birbal Kumar, 22, Gharuan resident Lovepreet Singh, 26, Morinda resident Harpreet Singh, 19, Garshankar resident Vivek Kunar and Saahil, 19.

The police officials said that the accused were arrested from Kharar area and Gazipur road, Zirakpur.

The accused were allegedly involved in more than 13 incidents of theft.

On November 11, Jaskaran Singh, a resident of Babhat, Zirakpur, told the police that his bike parked outside his home was stolen by an unidentified masked youth. Two days later, the police received a tip-off that Kamalpreet and Birbal were in possession of the stolen bike. A case was registered at the City Kharar police station. —TNS
