Skating Prodigy Janvi becomes youngest Indian to hold 11 Guinness World Records

Chandigarh’s 17-year-old freestyle skating prodigy Janvi Jindal has created history by becoming the first Indian female sportsperson to hold a record-breaking 11 Guinness World Records, after clinching six new titles this month. The feat places her behind only Sachin Tendulkar, who holds 19 Guinness records, making Janvi the country’s second-highest Guinness World Record holder.

Janvi received confirmation last week for six new titles, including most 360-degree rotations on inline skates in 30 seconds, most 360-degree rotations in one minute, and most one-wheeled 360-degree rotations in 30 seconds, adding to the five records she secured in July 2025 across various freestyle categories. Remarkably, she achieved all 11 world records at the age of 17.

Accompanied by her father Munish Jindal, Janvi met Rajya Sabha MP and Chandigarh University Chancellor Satnam Singh Sandhu, who felicitated her for her achievements. He presented her with a cash award of Rs 11,000 and offered admission to Chandigarh University under a sports scholarship.

“Holding 11 Guinness World Records at just 17 is an extraordinary accomplishment,” MP Sandhu said.

A Class 12 student at a government school in Chandigarh, Janvi is entirely self-taught, having learnt freestyle skating through online videos and guidance from her father. She has already won three gold, three bronze and two silver medals at national skating championships and is currently preparing for the upcoming national event.

Determined to push her boundaries, Janvi said, “I want to set more world records and inspire young athletes to dream big, no matter their resources. With access to professional coaching and better training systems, I’m confident I can bring more medals for India.”

Munish Jindal recalled her fearless streak since childhood. Inspired by the movie Dangal, he encouraged her into sports. Munish added that Janvi now holds 21 total records, including 11 Guinness World Records, eight India Book of Records titles, and one each from the Asia and Worldwide Book of Records.
