A suspected mobile phone snatcher broke his ankle yesterday while trying to escape from police custody. Madan Singh, a resident of Mirpur, has complained that suspect Baljinder, alias Jinder, of Sundran snatched his mobile phone near Mubarikpur filling station and fled. After the police arrested him, Jinder reportedly tried to flee and broke his ankle. He was taken to a hospital. Jinder reportedly has a criminal background. A case under Sections 304, 3(5) of the BNS has been registered at the Dera Bassi police station.
