Mahadev Club defeated Nine Famous Club (5-1) to reach the boys’ sub-junior final on the opening day of the 41st Sub-Junior and Junior State Softball Championship at the Sector 13 Sports Complex.

In the girls’ sub-junior quarterfinals, Sacred Heart team defeated St Anne’s Convent School (11-1), while Nine Famous Club recorded a 7-2 win over Government Model Senior Secondary School, Sector 16. Mission Club defeated Carmel Convent (7-6).

In the girls’ junior event, Chandigarh Coaching Centre went down (4-10) against St Anne’s Convent School, while Government Model Senior Secondary School, Sector 15, defeated Sacred Heart School (15-1). In the boys’ junior event, Mission Club defeated Friends Club (6-3), while Friends Club defeated Mission Club (6-0) in the boys’ sub-junior event.

The Tribune, now published from Chandigarh, started publication on February 2, 1881, in Lahore (now in Pakistan). It was started by Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, a public-spirited philanthropist, and is run by a trust comprising five eminent persons as trustees.

The Tribune, the largest selling English daily in North India, publishes news and views without any bias or prejudice of any kind. Restraint and moderation, rather than agitational language and partisanship, are the hallmarks of the newspaper. It is an independent newspaper in the real sense of the term.

The Tribune has two sister publications, Punjabi Tribune (in Punjabi) and Dainik Tribune (in Hindi).
