Initially, these buses will ply on five routes – Chandikotla to Chandigarh, Sector 17; Jalauli to Saketri; Singhpura to Chandigarh, Sector 17; Singhpura to Saketri; and Kalka to Saketri. To begin with, those routes have been chosen where either there is no bus facility or a few buses are plying.

“With the introduction of the local bus service, better transport facilities will be available for passengers on all these routes. These buses will also cover the railway station passing through various sectors,” said Gupta.

As Gupta’s official vehicle entered the bus stand for the flag-off ceremony, workers were seen manually cleaning stagnant water within the terminus.
