Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khatta today announced that the government would set up Haryana Sports Academy in Panchkula district to train players coming from all over the country.

The Chief Minister made the announcement during the closing ceremony of the fourth edition of the Khelo India Youth Games 2021 held at Indradhanush Auditorium, here.

“In view of providing state-of-art sports infrastructure, a hostel will be opened in Panchkula having accommodation for 200 players. Along with providing international level facilities to players, they will also be trained to become proficient in games,” said Khattar.

He also doubled the prize money given to the medal winning players of Haryana for their excellent performance in the Khelo India Youth Games-2021. The CM said organising these games in Haryana held utmost importance, because the state had a distinct identity in the sports world, both nationally and internationally.

“As many as 1,100 sports nurseries are being opened in the state to develop sports culture among children. This will benefit around 25,000 budding players,” he added.

Union Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports Anurag Singh Thakur congratulated Haryana for the successful organisation of the games.
