About an hour before the model code of conduct came into force, Mayor Ravi Kant Sharma today laid the foundation stone for providing canal-based water supply to Dhanas and Sarangpur villages. It also includes 8,448 flats in Dhanas.

The event was held at 11 am in the presence of Commissioner Anindita Mitra, other officers of the MC and prominent persons of the area.

Speaking on the occasion after laying the foundation stone, the Mayor said there was a pending demand of local residents for canal water supply.

It would increase the water pressure during the summer season. He asked the engineers concerned to complete the work within stipulated time period. — TNS

The Tribune, now published from Chandigarh, started publication on February 2, 1881, in Lahore (now in Pakistan). It was started by Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, a public-spirited philanthropist, and is run by a trust comprising five eminent persons as trustees.
