Chandigarh, May 29
Stray cattle menace has hit Ram Darbar residents hard as the local Municipal Corporation has failed to curb the problem.
Area residents say a large number of stray cattle are seen near Singh Sabha Gurdwara, Phase 1. They come out the main road and pose a huge risk to commuters.
“Several road accidents have taken place due to the stray cattle in the mornings. The authorities have not moved a bit. We have complained to the MC several times, but in vain,” said Anil Dadhwal, a Ram Darbar resident.
The southern area has been specifically hit by the menace. A large number of cattle are seen entering from Sector 48 and moving to different areas.
“It is a regular feature, but the police or the MC has not kept an eye on the person releasing the cattle at night and takes them back the next day. Only when a road accident happens, a challaning drive as a saving face exercise is carried out,” rued Mohanjit Kumar, another Ram Darbar resident.
